Update

I'm passing on some feedback from our Chicago and D.C. runners, plus a NYC marathon result:

Kirsty
"Finished the NYC Marathon in 5:07!  Not a PR but a good effort considering the bridges, 2 of which seemed to climb forever.  NYC is a race experience like no other - -a 26.2 mile block party with enthusiastic spectators, music & dancing along the whole way. Very special!"

Congratulations, Kirsty!!
Lytle & Brian
"I always love to "join" the WP run on Sundays via your email recaps. Thank you for keeping us Chicago folks in the loop.  Brian and I hope to join you all on the Sunday morning of Thanksgiving weekend when we're in town. We're running the Hot Chocolate 15K here in Chicago next weekend - my first race since breaking my shoulder a year ago. Won't be a PR but it will be fun. I'll run 9 miles for chocolate!"

Great to hear from you, Lytle.  I assume that you mean the communications loop, not the Chicago Loop! We look forward to seeing both you and Brian over the Thanksgiving weekend.

Lynne
Join me in wishing Lynne a happy birthday up there in D.C. at the Pentagon!
Lynne, do I recall correctly that we will be seeing you in December?  If so, when?

Charity Run on Saturday, November 15th
Susan Paul (who runs the Marathonfest Training Program) sent me the following info regarding a fund raiser for a local runner whose wife recently passed away.  I am passing it on to our group in the event you wish to participate or contribute to Gene Yasuda's family.
WHAT:  A MARATHONFEST TIMED TRAINING RUN
WHERE:  CADY WAY, 2525 CADY WAY, WINTER PARK
WHEN:  SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 15th.  THE RUN STARTS PROMPTLY AT 5AM
WHY:  FUND RAISER FOR FELLOW MARATHONFESTER GENE YASUDA'S FAMILY.  Gene Yasuda's wife Jay battled Hepatitis C for many years. Just recently Jay succumbed to the ravages of this disease.  During this long battle the family has incurred many health-related expenses. So, we are supporting one of our own with a timed training run held in his honor. We run as one.
WHO:  RUNNERS WHO KNOW OUR ROUTES. We are using our Cady Way Pines 3 mile Loop and our Glenridge 10 mile Loop. Finish line is on the Cady Way Trail.  Runners may run 3.1 miles, 13.1 miles, or any distance in between.  PLEASE NOTE THAT THE COURSE IS NOT MARKED AND IS NOT CLOSED TO TRAFFIC. ALL RUNNERS MUST FOLLOW TRAFFIC SIGNALS AND OBEY THE PEDESTRIAN RULES OF THE ROAD.
DETAILS:  Arrive early (4:30am) Saturday morning, November 15, and sign a Waiver to participate and receive a bib number. Donations are encouraged but are optional. The first 100 finishers will receive a handmade medal designed by our resident artist Amanda Morehead.  T-shirts commemorating the event will also be for sale.  A potluck breakfast will be available afterwards.  All proceeds go directly to Gene Yasuda and his family.
