First run in November

Today's Run

Fueled by a "Goldilocks" temperature of 48 degrees, we had a healthy turnout of 19-20 people today.  Maybe Claudia was responsible for the good running weather as she re-joined us on returning from her summer home in Wisconsin. Welcome home, Claudia!

The New York City Marathon is well along this morning.  The only one of our group that I know is competing is Kirsty, who promised me some feedback as soon as she can.  Kirsty went to NYC last year to run the ill-fated race which was cancelled because of the Sandy megastorm.

Eamonn graced us with his presence at Panera's after the run.  I am not gong to give him the business because he has an impossible schedule these days.  He also was supposed to run the NYC Marathon today, but had to cancel because he is so slammed..

Race Report

I hesitate to comment on recent races after messing up on reporting the Lighthouse Half results.  That said, I know that Seth completed the Running for the Bay 50K in Apalachicola FL last week.  Also, Idanny and Robert  ran a 5K in Lake Nona yesterday.  Robert said that Dawn also competed. (Hey Dawn, I have the shirt I borrowed from you and hope to return it when I next see you)

Seventh Annual Blanket Collection for the Homeless

Please mark December 7th on your calendar for the annual blanket drive which we have doing for many years now.  The collected blankets will benefit the Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida, which provides temporary living quarters for some 500 men, women and families.

As in the past, a number of other running groups are expected to participate, including The Orlando Runners Club, The Winter Park Dawgs, Marathonfest, the Galloway Training Program and the other Sunday runners group which meets on Sundays at the corner of Morse and Park. (Teresa Williams group)

Dave Sutton of the Dawgs has orchestrated their collection since we began this drive. This year he is hoping to have some of their group also join us for the December 7 run.  In the past, Dave has overseen both the collection and the delivery of blankets directly to the homeless shelter.

For the first time, the Dawgs will collect blankets and Dave Sutton indicated that he will work on getting some of the Dawgs to join our group run on December 7th.  The Dawgs have been participating in the drive from the beginning and it would be great if some of their members join us.

Please let me know if you have any questions and please try to make it out for our December 7th run.  Also, if you have a truck or SUV and are willing to help deliver blankets to the shelter, please let me know.  In the past, Dave Berry has been a lynchpin in that effort.  Dave, are you able to join us once again for this effort?

Have a great week!

Jack
