August 17 Run

Today's Run

Over twenty runners showed up today. Two were new and Beth rejoined us after a long absence.  I did not get contact info on the two new guys.  One of them is named Sonny and if anyone happened to get contact info, we have a job lead for him.  We welcomed Dylan back after a two week vacation in RI. Also, Arwa is back from Ireland where she hosted a hiking tour. Dawn was back for her second run, so it looks like

Yesterday's Celebration of Running 5K

The first race of the Track Shack running series drew 2360 runners, almost 2/3 of whom were females!  Along the way I got see and chat with Dawn, Jennifer, Barbara, Rose, Robert and Drew, his Mom.  Robert. our youngest Sunday runner at age 23, turned in a blistering 5:45 minute pace. Jennifer, another youngster in the group nailed a sub 6:45 pace.  Congratulations to all.

In my first race as an 80 year old, I placed 1st in the geriatric division and managed to beat last year's time for this race (which has the ugliest course of the series)/

From Lynne in the Pentagon

"It was a successful day at the Delaware Feis! Sean came in 2nd (of 2 dancers), but the guy who beat him was 2nd in the world in Sr Men (21+over) this year. I tied for 3rd in slip jig." Congratulations to both of you!

Lynne, a long time member of the Sunday running group, plans to join us for a run in December.

Helene in Dublin

Continuing in an Irish vein, Helene visited Dublin, ostensibly to run a Half Marathon, after which she and her Mother took in the sights of the country. Helene did a 3:18 on a tough uphill course with only three hours sleep.  The rest of their visit included hydrating on Guinness and Jameson, visiting the Kilkenny and Wicklow Mountains, the Cliffs of Moher and, of course, the Blarney Stone.

Have a great week!

Jack
