April 7 Run

Today's Run

We had a healthy turnout once again, with some 16 or so runners showing up to enjoy another ideal temperature in the low 60's.  Our expected visitors from Scotland failed to show.  We had some of our group show up whom haven't seen in a while.  This included John Lowndes and Carolyn Tanner.  John will be sworn in as a member of the Maitland City Council this week and we congratulate him on his election victory!  Carolyn also brought a friend whose name now escapes me.

Also, Bob and I had the pleasure of a long-time running partner joining us this morning.  Jackie Ewen began running with us some 20 years ago.  She came down from Sanford this morning to pull Bob and me through six miles and had breakfast with us afterwards at Panera's. Many years ago, Jackie became the first "Adopted Daughter" of my wife Mary and me.

Congratulations to Jorge!

Please join me in congratulating Jorge and his wife Lena on the birth of their first daughter Paula Sofia.  I believe Jorge sent you pictures of the March 28 blessed event and of their beautiful family.  Jorge plans to join us soon again and is helping with his church's program to train people to do the Oviedo 5K in May. They call the program "Couch to 5K".  It's a great idea.  Hope to see you soon, Jorge!

My Shipboard Race:

Have you ever heard of a shipboard race? Above is a scene from my recent cruise where I ran on an 0.4 mile track (which is rather long for a ship). What looks like a real race scene above is actually a mural painted on the turn at the front of the ship!  That means that I lapped these people many times.  I think that's a PR (sort of).

Enjoy the rest of this glorious weekend!

Jack
