Easter Sunday Run

Today's Run

Easter Sunday turned out to be a well-attended, glorious day to run.  It was sunny with a low humidity and a 64 degree start. We had a turnout of at least 17 people, about evenly divided by gender. This was a very healthy showing for a holiday weekend!

We had a visitor from the Dominican Republic by the name of Christian and also added a new member from Ocoee!   Michell brought her sister for her first romp with the group.  I can't remember the spelling of her name and have asked Michell to send it to me. Like the "original Ocoee Girls, her sister is a teacher.  Speaking of Ocoee, the original Ocoee girls, Helene and Debbie are still AWOL.

My bride and I just returned from a Caribbean cruise and it was great to be back in the swing of things this morning.  Unfortunately, I missed last week's 10K for the first time in many years.  From what I have heard about the nasty weather, I really didn't miss much!  My running venue was on a track on the ship.  Believe it or not, the track was 0.4 tenths of a mile.  There actually was a long straightaway which had a very good feel to it.  I put in nine miles on the sea!

Christine reports that last week's turnout was a dozen people.  She described the scene as a miserably humid morning!

Congratulations and Happy Birthday to Wendy, who celebrated the big 40 last week!  She looks to be approximately half that age!  I mean it!!

On the bench

I had a very nice e-mail from Dede who is temporarily side-lined from running.  She is working on strength training and weight control.  We miss you Dede, but we know you will be back soon.  We're rooting for you, Dede!!!  I will begin planning a "Dede Party"!!!

Note from Dave

"The ORC is still looking for more volunteers for the water stop at the Corporate 5k on Thursday evening April 18th.  Money raised from doing the water stop goes to our Scholarship fund.  For more info, contact me at dberry15@cfl.rr.com  or Geanette Moore at gnetmoore@yahoo.com or www.orlandorunnersclub.org."

Next Weekend

For our first April run, I am expecting two visitors from Scotland.  They are training for their first half marathon in their country, which likely will have a lot of hills.  We have a number of Brits join us in the past, but as best as I can recall, they will be the first from Scotland.  Ah yes, our fame continues to grow globally!!

Happy Easter and have a great week!

Jack
