Today's Run
Another cold day by Florida standards (39-40 degrees). Looked like a washout at 6:55 AM, but we ended up with a male-dominant group of 14 people. Christine was the Queen of the run at the outset, but Kim and Claudia showed up on their usual delayed start, speedy schedule. All in all, I guess it was sort of a temperature-adjusted turnout.
We were joined by a delightful visitor from the UK. Jonathan from Birmingham is attending a conference at UCF and is training for his first marathon. He turned out to be a really tall guy who operates a crisis management consulting business. He is planning to do the Manchester Marathon in late April. He had already left by the time Bob and I finished our six miles. Can someone confirm that we got Jonathan safely through his run?
By he way, we have had many visitors from the UK over the years, but Jonathan is the first one from Birmingham.
Wendy is running a marathon in Asheville this morning. It's a hilly one and she has been fighting an ankle injury. Hope you do well, Wendy, and plan to see you next Wednesday!
Helene reported in on her Princess Half. She had a ball and had family visiting. Sounds like it was a wonderful weekend of family and fun. Perhaps too much fun if I got the story straight! She is touting beer as a great carbo loading source (sort of).
Congratulations, Helene!
Have a great week. Remember that Daylight Savings Time starts next Sunday, thus giving us an extra hour of sleep. So that's one less excuse we have for not appearing next Sunday! Hope to see you then.

Whoops! I thank Arwa for reminding me that we get one hour's LESS sleep next Sunday! I've always been challenged by this. Now I remember that the memory key is "Spring forward and Fall back"!!
I’m posting comments I received regarding weekend activities of the group:
Wendy completed a very challenging Asheville Marathon . She says: “Not only was it too cold to take my hands out of my 2 pair of gloves & hand warmers to take pictures, it WAS too cold to take the time to post on FB.”
Lynne, in sharp contract, reports from DC that she has her fingers crossed hoping for a big storm this Wednesday so she can get some sledding in!
Liz reports that she and Cheryl did the Swamphouse Half Marathon yesterday.
Kirsty also ran Swamphouse and turned in a PR, knocking three minutes off last year’s PR in the same race!
Helene apologizes that she and Debbie could not abandon their warm and snuggly beds yesterday. In a spirit of repentance Helens says: “We miss you terribly and just seem to be having such a difficult time getting back in the swing of running in a routine! (Jack says forgiveness granted: penance is to show next Sunday!
Dylan confirmed that our visitor from the UK successfully completed his run with Mark and others and is planning a return visit.
Congratulations to Wendy, Kirsty, Liz and Cheryl!
