February 10 Run

Today's Run

I think that the 20 runners who showed up today would agree that we had a glorious day and an interesting mix of people. We also had a picture perfect temperature at 58 degrees and sunny.

Two people new to the group joined us today.  Jesse, a delightful young mother of two breezed through 10 miles  with Atif at a pace faster than she would have liked, but she did it and will be back for more next week.  We also had Ralph out for the second week in a row.  Both plan to become regulars.  Welcome to both of you!

Long Distance Racers reports from last weekend

Gina

Gina got home from working in CT, NY and NJ disaster field offices at 2 AM last Saturday exhausted and ran the Melbourne Music Marathon with her friend. Due to her work circumstances in the area devastated by Storm Sandy, her training was minimal and scattered around the various freezing areas of the northeast where she had been working.  Despite the hurdles, she managed to pull off a 4:41 performance!

From Kirsty

My old colleague and friend Kirsty Walker is on fire!  On the heels of executing Goofy a few weeks ago, she did two back to back half marathons last weekend!

On Saturday she did the inaugural "Best Damn Race" Half Marathon in Safety Harbor FL and the Melbourne Music Half the next day. Wow!  (Kirsty began to ease into her running career when we worked together many years ago and we put together a rag-a-tag team to compete in the Annual Corporate Race which (believe it or not) was staged as a track meet at Showalter Field).  Anyone remember that far back??

Congratulations to Gina and Kirsty!!!

Upcoming Grand Prix Races

Don't forget the House of Hope 5K Grand Prix Race next Saturday!  Only one more series race left after that. (The WP 10K on March 23rd).

Have a great week!

Jack
