January 27th Run

Today's Run

We had a nice group of 15 or so turn out today for the last Sunday in January. Christine and Liz were there to soften what was otherwise a male-dominated group. Cheryl was doing her own thing this morning and passed by at mile 1.

Half a dozen or so of the group ran yesterday's 5.2K.  Rose, as usual, was in the money and placed second in her age category.

We welcomed Mickey Hammer to his first run with us.  Mickey is doing an internship at Spectrum Sports Performance here in Winter Park and will be returning Southern Arkansas University where he competes on the track team.  Depending on his experience with us today, we may try to put him with a faster group.

Note to Mickey:  Please share your experience of running with the group today and let me know if you want to ratchet up to a faster venue.

Have a great week—hope to see you for the first run of February next Sunday!

Today was my first experience with the running group at Winter Park. It was a great experience. Being from Arkansas I do not have this type of beautiful scenery. It was a gorgeous morning in a great neighborhood.

It was great seeing such a large group running this morning. Everyone I met was really nice and friendly. They were open minded and seemed really interested in me being there. I ran 10 miles speaking with several runners along the way holding some great conversations.

It was a great time and I would love to do it again. I almost hate saying I would like to be company for a faster group because everybody was so great. I believe we averaged about 8:30 pace which is about 2 minutes slower than my average. But it was a great pace to take in the nice scenery and great people.

Thank you so much for the opportunity and I hope to see more of you soon.
