Today's Run
We were greeted this morning with a very mild 68 degree start sixteen runners in all. We had a very affable visitor this morning -- Ryan from Chicago. He said he really enjoyed himself and hopes to return in the future
We had a lot happening on Park Avenue near Briarpatch. There were 3 or 4 emergency vehicles and a number of policemen there at the beginning of our run and even more policemen there after the run. Not sure what it was all about, but the police were taking photos of the inside of a vehicle still at the scene around 9AM.
OUC Half Marathon Update
Beth updated our count on last week's OUC half-marathoners. She reported that Jamie and Arnette also competed, which raised the total to 10 of the group participating (along with 3193 of our closest friends!). I believe that's a record turnout for the OUC Half.
Longer term Visitor in January
I received the following e-mail recently and have told Mickey he is welcome to join us. My sense is that he is a very fast runner, so I am trying to hook him up with our sister group who meet at Morse Blvd. Any ideas you may have are welcomed. Here is his message:
"Hi, my name is Mickey Hammer. I am from Southern Arkansas University. I will be entering an internship in January at Spectrum Sports Performance at Winter Park Florida. I have competed in cross country and track at my University for four years and am looking for a group to run with while I am at my internship site. I would love to join the Winter Park Running group if possible. I feel it would be a great experience and also allow me to socialize with runners and perhaps run in a few races when possible. I will be in Winter Park for almost 4 months and am wondering what I need to do to join and be a part of this great group."
Only three more runs left in 2012! Have a great week.
Jack
