June 10 Run

Today's Run

Consistent with the past several weeks, we had seventeen runners show up to brave the creeping temperature.  Only one Sunday run left in Spring.  This was a good crowd given the fact that the ORC 5K race took place yesterday.  I was a sign-up no show for the race.  Had what I thought was a budding hip problem which vanished as quickly as it appeared.  Excuses, excuses!

Debbie was able to round up Helene who has been AWOL for a bit.  She also brought Christy, a new recruit to the group.  Seth was back for a breather as he had a break in his blistering summer ultra schedule.  We also were pleasantly surprised by a cameo appearance by Dave Morgan, a previous regular whom we haven't seen in several years.

A moment from my "Running for the Long Haul" presentation

Courtesy of Betsy Hughes photography and Wendy's camera, the end of the festivities at my May 31st presentation was captured for posterity.  Included below are Sunday group members Wendy, Kirsty, Dede and myself.  Others include Susan & Ralph Paul; Dan and Lorraine Hardaway; two-time Ironman competitor and close friend Charline Gauthier. Just right of me is running legend Judy Greer who was a long-term member of our group before moving to Tampa. Far left is Denise Gillespie, a neighbor and occasional runner with Chris and me on our Wednesday morning jaunts.

I received a final count on the event.  We had 85 attendees and collected $669 for the Haiti Outreach of St. MM Church.  Thanks for your support!

Have a great week!

Jack
