March 18 Run

Today's Run

March 18 turned out to be the best showing we have had in a while.  Twenty people showed up, with the ladies having a slight majority.  A temperature in the mid-60's provided the icing on the cake.  Everyone was able to find parking, despite the closure of Park Avenue for the art festival. It must be due to whatever people were drinking on St. Patrick's Day!

There was a lot of history there today.  Jackie and husband Kurt joined us from Sanford for sis miles and breakfast afterwards.  Jackie, like Rose, first starting running with the group twenty some years. Jackie is our "first adopted daughter" and ran with Chris and me for many years.  Bob, another long-termer, took a bye today since he had Lasik surgery on his eye a few days ago.  Ditto for Kim and Claudia.

Jari showed today after a long absence.  Lytle also showed up, as did Joe Harris (who usually runs with the Sunday Marathonfest group) Welcome back, all!

Looks like a lot of us will be out for the 35th Winter Park 10K (and a 2K for eager beavers) next Saturday.  Also hope to see some of you there again on Sunday.

As a testimonial to my anal record keeping, this race will be my 21st running and one which I first ran in 1988 after we moved here.  I have watched my time go from a sub-46 at age 56 to a 69 minute+ pace time at age 77.  Fascinating!!

Race Reports

Rose: "Liz and I did the Swamp House Half. Good race. Saw a lot of Dawgs and Marathonfest people.  I won the 65 and over female age group! Rich was my support team." (This took place last week)

Wendy also did this race.

Congratulations to Rose, Liz and Wendy!

Dave re volunteers for the upcoming Corporate Race: "We're up to 18 volunteers now.  Just need about 32 more in the next 32 days."

Please contact Dave if you can help out.

Have a great week!

Jack
