Marach 25 Run

Today's Run

We had a baker's dozen show up today on a slightly warmer and humid morning preceded by a shower around 6:00 AM.  After the 10K yesterday, some decided to give themselves a little rest.  Danny, who is up to his ears with work challenges, was kind enough to stay with some of us at the back of the pack for four miles or so.

We were supposed to have a visitor from the U.K. today, but she failed to show.  I expect another U.K. visitor in a few weeks.

Winter Park 10K on Saturday

We had at least 14 of the group competing in nine age categories between the age 25 to 75 year age categories.  That's a 50 year span!  The race drew a record crowd of close to 2900 runners, of which 60% were females!

Congratulations to Rose, who once again came in first in her age category yesterday.

Congratulations and Best Wishes to Lytle and Brian

Please join me in extending our best wishes and congratulations to Lytle and Brian.  Both are members of our Sunday group and they became engaged on March 11 over in St Pete!! They are planning a November wedding.

Despite the two of them tackling their first Triathlon yesterday in Clermont, they were out there this morning for a run.  Congratulations to both of you on your first Tri!

I told them that they have a PR, since, as far as I know, theirs is the first engagement between two member of the group in the 25 years that I have been around!!

News from Meredith

Meredith, who is one of our newest members, completed her first Marathon in Los Angeles last weekend!  She says it was cold but they dodged a rainstorm and she had a fantastic run.

Congratulations to you, Meredith!!

Meredith also asked me to make the group of an upcoming 5K race in Lake Nona which is for a good cause and has some zany aspects to it which you may find to be fun.  You can check it out at: www.lakenonapigrun.com  Meredith will be having an open house at her place that day for people who want to stop by to grab a drink, socialize, perhaps eat more food, etc.

.Seth's Invitation

I don't know if anyone took up Seth's invitation to see the O-rena blown up this morning, but I am sure you had a blast if you did.

From Kirsty Walker, who has some Scottish blood:

For those of you inclined to pursue unusual and challenging runs, Kirsty told me last weekend about some unusual competition in Scotland.  It's called Fell running and is also known as mountain and hill running.  Sounds to me like a great excuse to visit Scotland!  There is a lot of info on-line.

So went the week!  See you soon.

This morning's alternant run to O-rena implosion was, as you predicted, a blast. By the time we arrived 8 of us had accumulated along the way. Louis started with me at my house at 6am. Dave B, Tom and Michele W, Mikko and Amy joined en route. Janice drove her car and met us. Several good videos appear on Facebook and Youtube, I'm glad we did it. We met for a substantial breakfast at White Wolf Cafe afterwards.
