April 1, 2012

Sunday, April 1, 2012

A very ideal day for a run with about 16-17 of your running mates and including my teenage grandson who borrowed his sister's running shoes to help me through six miles and provided a 64 year span between youngest and oldest runners..  That's neat!

The Runner's Good Citizen Award

Jorge has tackled a project to get runners from his parish in Oviedo to train for an upcoming 5K out his way.  Today he shared with us that they have 75 recruits of all ages and fitness levels who signed up for the program.  He is dealing with morning and evening sessions and sounds like he is having a ball.  Congratulations, Jorge, and be sure to rein in some new recruits for our Sunday runs.

UK Visitors next week and in May

The holiday season is in full swing for our fellow runners from the U.K.  On April 8, we expect Robbie Sargent from Milton Keynes, just north of London.  Robbie is a 39 year old Brit training to run an inaugural marathon on April 29 in his home town.  This will be his first marathon.

Also, on May 20th & 27th we will host Richard Bruce.  Richard lives on the Isle of Wight and is becoming a regular.  Richard has run with us in 2008 and again in 2010.  Looks like he is on an every two year cycle.

Last week we got dissed by a U.K. lady who said she would come but ended up a no-show.  We are taking steps to revoke her running visa.

Wedding Bells

Just found out this week that Amy and Mikko tied the knot yesterday. Both are on our list but appear infrequently.  Amy is the lady who gets this e-mail posted the ORC website.

Our best wishes and congratulations to Amy and Mikko!!

Happy Easter and Passover next weekend.  Easter is Sunday and hope to see those of you who can make it .
