Safety alert for Sunday runners

For the second time today I was attacked by a dog during our run near the south entrance to Waterbridge subdivison off Glenridge Way (about 7 miles into the long Sunday morning loop). The first time I was bitten on the hip and today it was just a close call. I also saw a similar confrontation involving a female runner on a third occasion.

The dog is medium-large with thick longish red-brown hair and a short snout that gives it a bearish appearance. The accompanying human is a middle-aged white male about 5'6" with a slight pot belly, a scraggly close salt-and-pepper beard, and short hair that thin on top.

Each of these events occurred a bit after 8am on Sunday Morning. The human and I exchanged unpleasantries each time and today (confessing now) I behaved badly before continuing the run. The dog was on a leash but the owner does not control it. I notified the Winter Park police who took the info but explained they won't do anything unless an officer sees it or it is reported immediately when it happens.

Please be cautious if you're in this area and notify the police (407.644.1313) if you observe anything like this. In the meantime I'll focus on improving my attitude, language, and deportment when in public.

Godspeed, Seth
