April 10 run

We had a moderate turnout of 14 people this morning, including Virginia, a visitor from Pittsburgh and a graduate of Winter Park High School. Leslie, whom we haven't seen since tax season came upon her, showed up after a several month absence.

Thank you note from Virginia

"Thanks for letting me tag along this morning with the group. The distance wasn't a problem but the heat was -- something I'm not used to in Pittsburgh, but I better acclimate quickly as I have a half-marathon coming up in May. --Please give a shout-out to Mark who was kind enough to guide me back to Aloma at my pace, rather than his. Hope to join in again. And if anyone is traveling to Pittsburgh, we have a fun running group they can drop into -- 7 a.m. Sundays. But we have hills to get used to. Dedication of Baldwin Park Lake Loop

Looks like we will be represented at the dedication by Bob, Jorge and me. All of you are most welcome to join us.

Dog issue in Waterbridge.

Hopefully you have seen Seth's posting the ORC Sunday blog. Seems kind of ironic that a sleepy little neighborhood inhabited mainly by retired and older folks turns out to be a bit of a hazard around mile 6. In addition to the dog issue reported by Seth, there also recently was a baby alligator incident with the Marathonfest training group. One morning in the dark Susan Paul jumped over what she thought was a tree branch on the ground. It turned out to be a baby alligator. Her running partner stumbled and fell, scaring the poor little alligator out of its wits. It has not since been see, but was headed north in the direction of Lake Berry.

Excerpts From Sultana: "The cruise was really nice, I left a few hours after the Winter Park Road Race 10K where I had a PR at 55:42, almost two minutes off my prior 10K time. I attached a photo taken on Magens Bay Beach in St. Thomas. It was a good cruise, but I think I'm more of a backpacker than a cruiser :) I love the Gandhi quote, thank you for sharing :) Hope to be running with you soon!"

Congratulations on your PR, Sultana!

Good News on Marty's Remarkable Recovery after his bilking accident:

From wife Robin: "Last week Marty came home with a brand new bike helmet so I knew one of these days he would be ready to "get back on the horse." This beautiful spring morning was the day! It was his idea, first we took a walk along Cady Way, then we got on our bikes and took a 5 mile ride for the first time in over 6 months. The sky was blue, the birds were chirping and as you can see in the photo we were grinning from ear to ear. Even my bike seemed happy to be on the trail & off that trainer with me peddling nowhere day after day…. Happy Spring, enjoy your life, share your love, be here now!
