I've always wondered how many people fail to show on the Sunday when Daylight Savings Time begins. (That, by the way, is today). Please check in if you were in that select wannabe group this morning. Fourteen people showed up, and I only know of one who valiantly started at 7:20 and ran the route in reverse to try and find the group. Since he failed in that effort, he shall remain anonymous, but his initials are b.o.b.
The non-shows missed a perfect running day—50 degrees and sunny with no wind.
We had Brent visiting from Winnipeg, Canada. Luckily, we had a fellow countryman from our group out this morning. Kirsty, who is a group leader in the Galloway program and a native of Calgary, made Brent feel right at home. And thanks to Jake, Brent had some company to do a long run. (Jake: Hope you kept our record intact of never losing a visitor!)
Race Runners
Thanks to a report from Cheryl during the week, I know that we had a contingent of six running the half marathon in Sarasota this morning. Cheryl, Marcus, Amy, Nikko, Michele and Tom were scheduled to participate. (Hope you had your clocks moved forward!) Let us know how you did. Sarasota, by the way, is a neat half marathon (as long as you don't mind tackling the causeway in both directions)
Congratulations are in order
Rumor has it that Amy and Mikko have become engaged! I hope I have this right and would appreciate your confirming to the group that this is the case. We are delighted for you and offer our very best wishes. Amy and Mikko would become the 4th married running couple who are part of our group.
Have a great week!
Jack

Hi Jack,
The running weather in Sarasota was great, and running over the causeway out and back in the first 5 miles wasn't too bad. Both Cheryl and Amy set PRs. Mikko and I also ran, and Tom and Marcus cheered us on, and had the cooler of Mimosas waiting at the finish line. Saw quite a few runners from the Orlando area at the race.
And the rumor is true, Mikko and Amy are engaged.
Thanks,
Michele
Thanks to those of you who checked in over the last few days. Here’s a recap of the happenings while they are still fresh. Michele’s comments have been posted directly to the Sunday blog, but the following were not:
Sarasota Half Marathon
From Cheryl:
I'm happy to report PRs for both myself and Amy Tatum at today's Sarasota Half. I finished in 1:52 and change, and Amy finished in 2:01. Mikko and Michele ran the race as well (1:59 and 2:5? respectively)-- and Tom Ward & Marcus were present to cheer on their wives without torturing themselves for 13.1 miles!
From Mikko
Responding to my embarrassing misspelling of his name: No worries, no apologies necessary on the name misspelling. And thank you for your kind words on our engagement. We have not yet set a wedding date.
Additions to the Injured List
From Carolyne
I tore my plantar fascia in the Melbourne ½ marathon and will be sidelined from running for a few more weeks.
From Christine
Hi, Jack. Hope this e-mail finds you well. Am glad to be getting the updates, since I haven't been running in quite some time. I actually think I have a bone spur on the top of my left foot…
A Thank You From Brent, our visitor from Winnipeg , Canada last Sunday
I had a great time yesterday. Thank you for organizing my running with Jake. The run was right on pace, a great distance and went through some excellent scenic areas. We are now back home in Winnipeg and miss the warmth of Orlando . Thanks to you and all the other Floridians who were so gracious and accommodating.
We wish those of you on the injured list a fast recovery!
Jack
