October 3 Run

The 15 people who showed up this morning experienced the first feel of Fall, and they were rewarded with a 70 degree idyllic morning. I chose not to run today since I got whacked with a sinus infection and am lying low until mid-week. It felt truly odd to get back in my car and come home.

We were supposed to have two new people out, both of whom failed to show. One was a local young lady and the other a visitor from Ft. Lauderdale. That said, we had two other people show up whom we did not expect.

Kudos and apologies to Brandon, one of our newer runners, who completed his first 15K last Saturday. Sorry I missed you in last week's race run-down, Brandon.

Next Week-end

The third Grand Prix 5 Miler at UCF is scheduled for next Sunday. I anticipate that a good number of the group, including myself, will be there. We also will have a visitor next Sunday whom we are trying shepherd through a long run. A number of you have indicated your willingness to extend our hospitality to her.

So I am asking those of you who will be out next Sunday to greet Amber from Anchorage, Alaska (very Alterative!) She is now running in 30 degree weather at home and expects to be slowed down by the "heat" here. Christine, Kim, Leslie and Mike have said they plan to be out and I am fairly confident that she will be well-covered. She would like to get in ten miles and is training for a half marathon. Thanks to those of you who have volunteered to watch out for her. Please extend a warm welcome and our usual hospitality to Amber.

Have a great week.

Jack
