October 10 Runs

We had a split contingent of runners today (10/10/10). Chris reports tat thirteen showed up for the regular run today and that Amber from Anchorage Alaska joined the group as expected. About six miles to the east we had a turnout of some nine or ten of our group for the UCF Five Miler. As far as I was able to determine, Rose was the only one who placed in her age group, and that was a first place by a wide margin. Congratulations once again, Rose!

Thanks to Mikko, I got to see Jen Cray who, unfortunately, is moving to West Palm Beach due to her company relocating there. We wish you well, Jen, and will miss you.

Halfway through my ugly race, Wendy appears out of nowhere and pulls me along for perhaps a half mile—this after her completing a 24 mile training run yesterday in preparation for her upcoming Marine Corp Marathon at the end of October. Good luck, Wendy!

Blanket Collection Status Report

Plans for the blanket collection on November 7 are taking shape. The ORC Board discussed this at its meeting last week and Amy Tatum and I are working on getting the event publicized. Some of you have already agreed to help with the collection effort and we would appreciate hearing from any of you who have not already stepped up and are willing to help. We now have confirmed seven running groups who plan to participate, with the possibility of two more to come.

There also is a possibility that the Winter Park Maitland Observer may cove the event.

Hope to see many of you next Sunday. Have a great week.

Jack
