First Run of September

Seventeen brave souls appeared for today's run—a good turnout for a Labor Day weekend, and a hot one at that.

Cheryl and Jari have been dealing with injuries, so it was great to see them back.  Jarili, our youngest member also joined her Mom, once again giving us three generational attendance.  Dylan was still chugging along finishing a 20 some miler as he passed by us at Panera's, when I was on my second coffee.  He is soon off to Newport RI for his next marathon.  Go, Dylan!

Next Saturday's 5K race will be the second run of the Grand Prix Series.  It takes place in Casselberry and it usually the second hottest race of the series.  Hope to see many of your smiling faces at the start line.  For those of you not familiar with the routine, we tend to gather ten yards back from the start line on the left hand side.

Blanket Collection Sunday

I am leaning towards conducting our annual blanket collection run on November 7.  This will be our third year for this outreach for the Coalition for the Homeless in downtown Orlando.  Please weigh in on the tentative date if you wish.

Last year, you may recall, we had several running groups participate in the blanket drive, including the Winter Park Dawgs and the Tri with Sway Triathlon training group.  I am leaning towards expanding the drive to invite other local runners and running groups to participate.  Again, your input is invited.

Have a great Labor Day weekend!

Jack
