Today
A crew of 14 turned up this morning for a 70 degree 7 AM start. Jari returned and confirms that she will be a regular after her first run with us last week. So we officially welcome you, Jari!
It also was good to see two of our group appear after their recent absence. (Mark & Meghann) Meghann did 10 miles with Glen (the only two who went the distance today) Get this: Meghann, who has a very interesting food and fitness blog, not only consumed an eight course meal at the Victoria and Albert last night, but she and Glen kept up with Kim and Claudia for the distance! (You can check out Meghann’s blog at: graduatemeghann.com) That performance must somehow count for a PR! I'm going to check it out--it may just help my running and, if it doesn't so what? Also, Meghann, tell sister Kelly that it's time to get back out for a run with the group.
Dylan, our other blogster, was one of 10 guys who showed. Dylan assured me that he is back of top of his blog after a recent break. (thintrade.com)
We said good-bye to Bob, who treks back to his home in Vermont for the next half-year. That said, I will see my long term friend in Vermont in five weeks where the two of us will be doing the Covered Bridge Half Marathon .
Yesterday
Six of us took in the Run for the Trees 5K and there are two nice success stories to report. Jake is on a roll—He place 4th in the overall male results and 1st in his age group! Liz also blazed to a 1st place in her age category. Congratulations to both of you! Cheryl, Wendy, Barbara and I were the other four. (Hope I got everyone!) The race turnout was 969 people, 61% of whom were women!
Next Sunday
As always, hope to see you!
Jack

Sorry, but I totally missed Billy Kovaly when I did my hunt and peck search for the 5k race results yesterday. Worse yet, Billy placed first in his age category. Apologies to you, Billy, and to the group as well. Revised stats: Seven of group ran--three had first places. Wow, what a group!
Thanks to Dave for keeping me honest.
I am embarrassed to inform you that I also missed acknowledging that Rose not only ran the Run for the Trees, but also placed first in her age category. So sorry, Rose, and congratulation.
Thus the final tally is that we had eight people from the group ran, and four of them placed first in their respective age categories! Very impressive indeed.
Given the reporting fiasco on my part, I am going to dispense with my hunt and peck review of the race results, because I have proved conclusively that there is too much room for omissions. I have proved that beyond a shadow of a doubt.
So here is what I propose for future races: If you care to let me know of your participation and/or successes, I will combine the collective input and include it in an e-mail.
Thanks for your patience!
