April 27th Run

Today's Run

Aprils' last run drew a turnout of some 15 runners, including several people bouncing back from injuries (Russ, Ed and Rich). Rich suffered a non-running injury due to a bad fall at home.  Good to see you gentlemen on the road again.

Seth made an appearance.  He continues his whirlwind schedule with a recent half-marathon in Oregon, a planned marathon in Colorado and a third race which escapes me.  Good luck, Seth!

A year ago our run drew a large crowd to pre-celebrate Bob's 80th birthday.  As in 2013, Bob is headed back to Vermont just before he turns 8l.  Next weekend may be his last Sunday with us as he and wife Bev are in the process of selling their condo here.  Come join us if you can!

Jorge

Jorge reports that he is coaching a group of about 50 runners in his parish who are training for the Oviedo 5K on May 24th.  This leaves him little time to be with the family, so he is unable to join us for a while.

Kirsty

Kirsty is doing Big Sur this weekend.  Let us know how it goes, Kirsty!  Also condolences to Kirsty on the loss of her father-in-law.

Profiles in Courage

Most of you don't know Lauren, but her story is noteworthy.  Lauren has been fighting brain cancer.  She was unable to complete the Boston Marathon last year because of the bombs. This year she was invited by Mass General Hospital to return and once again compete as part of the hospital's team.  This she did along with husband Chris.  Here's an excerpt from her feedback:

"Boston was amazing!  We both finished this year and had a blast.  The crowds were amazing.  So great to see the City bounce back so strong after last year."

Hope to see you next Sunday.

Jack
