March 16th Run

Today's Run

We had a healthy turnout of 20 or so this morning, especially since we had the WP 10K yesterday.  The temp for both days was idyllic for running.

Off the Bench

Jeff Hyson returned after an extended absence due to injury.  He brought along Melissa for her first run with the group.  Great to have you back Jeff!!

Yesterday's 10K

We had at least ten of the group compete yesterday in the final race of the 2013 Track Shack Race Series which drew over 2800 10K runners.   Some highlights:

Jen and Bob finished first in their age groups.  Jen turned in a blistering 42:16 against 305 age group competitors!!  Bob beat the #2 guy in his age group by 10 minutes!!

Rose was the overall winner of the 2013 Race Series in her age group.  Some of the other people in the group who competed yesterday were Barbara, Kirsty, David, Dave, Dylan and myself.  For me it was my 300th competitive race, but who's counting?

Other Races

Haley reports that she had a great half marathon on a beautiful day in a beautiful place last weekend in Seaside.  Congrats to you.

Eamonn is in New York City doing a half marathon today.  Hope it went well, Eamonn!  Let us know how you did.

From the out-of-towners

Jonathon from the UK sends his thanks for the company of the group on his recent visit.  He hopes to join us again next year.

Lynne, our DC runner and Irish dancer reports that her group entertained the runners while they tallied the race results in a recent St. Patrick's Day 8K

Winter Park Art Festival

Remember to park on a side street next Sunday.  Park Avenue will be closed to vehicles.

Have a great week!

Jack
