Januaary 26 Run

Today's Run

Fifteen runners, including a few new faces, availed themselves of very ideal running conditions this morning, Linda, a young lady who is the daughter of long time friends, stayed with me the whole time, for which I thank her. I caught up with Linda at Wendy Tumlin's wedding reception yesterday.  Wendy is a friend and a group leader in Marathonfest. She occasionally joins us on Sunday. Our Best Wishes, Wendy! And welcome back to the group, Linda!

It turns out that it is Dylan's birthday today, and as fate would have it, we managed to fete him with a piece of home made cake and a candle, thanks to the Marathonfest Sunday group who also congregate at Panera's after their run.. We missed Eamonn's recent birthday, so we say HAPPY BIRTHDAY, EAMONN AND DYLAN.

Yesterday's Seasons 52 Race

The oldest guy in our group had the best race.  Bob, fresh back from VT placed second in the 80 and over age group!  Congratulations, Bob!  I know that Barbara, Rose, Dylan, Cheryl and Marcus also competed. Congratulations to all!

Today we have a contingent doing the Town of Celebration Marathon.  Good luck to Seth, Simone, Gina and Dave!  Please let us know how you fared!

The International Desk

Earlier this week I had an e-mail from Mike who was in Tokyo and looking for the sister club of the ORC in the Tokyo area – The Urayasu Running Club.  Michelle went into action and in short order Mike had an invitation to run with the group on their Saturday club run.  Unfortunately Mike was returning home last Friday and was able to connect.  Shows how small our world has become!

Profiles in Courage

Susan Paul sent me the link posted below.  Every year Susan, who runs Marathonfest,  receives requests to find guides for visually impaired runners This year she found a guide for a young man signed up for Dopey. His guide made a video which is posted on youtube.  The runner completed Dopey and ran a 3:48 Marathon!  The link is:

The video is very moving and something to remember when we are feeling sorry for ourselves.

Have a great week!

Jack
