Today's Run
Over two dozen people turned out to honor Bob Raymond on his imminent 80th Birthday. Chris serenaded Bob with a medley of jazz style selections which appropriately included Moonlight in
Today's turnout was the best we have had in a long time and it was wonderful to see some faces we haven't seen in a while-- Including Jari (who brought her husband Fernando), Debbie and Helene from Ocoee (who finally showed up for their victory lap after doing Disney) Geralynn (who came all the way from Satellite Beach), Jack Ramsey (who arrived from Colorado to rejoin us for the season.) and last but not least, Jorge.
I was struck by both the continuity of the group and the continual addition of new runners with each passing year. Bob, Geralynn, Rose, Dylan, myself and others have been around for up to 25 years. And to see Bob turning 80 and being as fit as he is should provide a strong incentive to all of us to hang in there through thick and thin. The dividends of health and well-being provide a strong incentive to do so!
News from other members
Several people in the group were unable to join us. Gina reported from D.C. that she is spending more time there than in Clermont since her family is in the northeast and she has a new grandson who is one handsome little boy! She was here to do the
Liz and Jack both did the Healthy Heart 10K last week. Liz nailed a third place and Jack a second place finish. Congrats to both of you!
Maternity Leave
Michele Bosch reports that she is expecting her first child and is planning to stop running for a spell. Michele, we will miss you and wish you and your husband the very best. Keep us posted, OK?
Have a great week. Another month gone!

In my haste to report, I missed acknowledging several people who have been part of the WP Sunday running group for a long time, namely: Seth, Kim and Claudia. My apologies! I hope this covers everyone.
Also, I had chance to check yesterday's Run for the Trees 5K and found that three of the group placed second in their age groups:
Rose
Jack R
Liz II
Hey Liz, we haven't seen you in an age!
Jack,
Perhaps you should promote more of these milestone event runs if you're going to get such good turnouts from the woodwork and beyond.
P.S. I know it seems like an eternity, the time I've been in the Sunday group, but - I checked - my first run with you and Chris was on August 24, 2006, six years and eight months ago (80 months), this week. How I got there I'll never know but it's been all good since then. Keep running Ja
