First Sunday Run of the New Year

What a nice turnout to start 2013 on the right foot, or for that matter, the left foot!  We welcomed back Mary, whom I haven't seen in years.  We also welcomed back Danny, who has been recuperating from shoulder surgery the fast four months and Bob, who has been in Vermont the past eight months!!  Good to see each of you back again.

I also was struck by the number of faces who have been around for the long haul.  Jon, Corey, Kim, Claudia, Heather, Tim, Charline, Chris, Mary and Dylan all have been part of the Sunday scene for dozens of years!

Next weekend is the big Disney gala.  Good luck to Christine (the comeback kid), Geralynn, Wendy, Leslie, Helene, Debbie, Kristi, Kirsty, Liz V, and Seth (who has run every Disney marathon!).  Note how the ladies are dominating the competition!  Hope I haven't missed anyone.

Looking Ahead

Two weeks from now we will host repeat visitors Sue and Roxy from Maryland where they run with my old group, the Baltimore Runners Club. This will be their third year in a row to join us.

Longer term Visitor in January

I received the following e-mail recently and have told Mickey he is welcome to join us.  My sense is that he is a very fast runner, so I am trying to hook him up with our sister group who meet at Morse Blvd.  Any ideas you may have are welcomed.  Here is his message:

"Hi, my name is Mickey Hammer. I am from Southern Arkansas University. I will be entering an internship in January at Spectrum Sports Performance at Winter Park Florida. I have competed in cross country and track at my University for four years and am looking for a group to run with while I am at my internship site. I would love to join the Winter Park Running group if possible. I feel it would be a great experience and also allow me to socialize with runners and perhaps run in a few races when possible. I will be in Winter Park for almost 4 months.

Happy New Year

I wish you all the best in the New Year and hope to see you soon.  As a reminder, please let me know if you do not wish to get these e-mail updates.

Have a great week!

Jack

For all those running the Disney Full marathon, Look for your fellow runners from the ORC that will be manning the powerade/water stop at mile 23.9.
