October 21 Blanket Collection Day

Today's "Blanket Run"
We had a heartwarming turnout this morning on a sub-60 degree delightful morning. Fall is officially here! We had close to 30 people show up today to deliver the blankets and/or run!  It was an appropriate day to help the homeless in our community stay warm in the coming weeks!

Thanks to the generosity of our local running groups and others, we have collected 134 blankets through today.  Half of the total is due to the generosity of Susan Paul's Track Shack training programs (Marthonfest and Galloway) and over a third from our Sunday group. The program is ongoing for a few more weeks, so feel free to encourage your friends to participate!

The Sentinel's Kate Santich did a great posting our outreach in yesterday's "Blogwatch -Change the World" section of the Sentinel.  The Park Press also did an announcement in its recent edition.

A special thanks to Billy and Dave for providing transportation of the blankets to the Coalition for the Homeless.  They made a management decision to transport the blankets in Billy's humongous van.  (Billy is looking for a buyer for the van if you're interested)

News from recent visitors:

Rich from NYC
"Thank you again for the opportunity to run with your group.  You are lucky to run with a great group of people.  It was nice to meet everyone. I hope your race went well and next time I'm in the area I hope we can go for a run."
Jodie from Australia
"My family & I made it safely back home to Australia just over a week ago.  Sadly, we have returned to work, university and school this week after a fantastic holiday.

Thanks again for welcoming me to your Sunday morning group.  Sorry I didn't get to say goodbye in person.  I had a great time and was very well looked after." Check the following link: (http://www.terrigaltrotters.com.au/Newsletters/2012_October.pdf) it should open my local runners club newsletter.  I submitted an article on page 11."  Also see below

Hey, Leslie, you have gone quiet since I saw you in Colorado in August. Are you still planning to do Goofy?
