May 5th Run

Today's Run

The first run in May provided a hint of our warmer weather beginning.  We had a nice turnout of, I believe, some 15 people, nicely evenly split between females and males.  We welcomed two people we haven't seen in a while.  Beth must have AWOL for about a year and Leslie for several months.  Great to see both of you again.  Unfortunately, Leslie will be relocation to Colorado is several months due to a job promotion for her husband.  And Beth is looking to relocate to Washington DC before year-end.  Thus she will be joining our "Washington Bureau" which currently consists of Lynne, Gina and Sultana. If any of you would be interested in helping Beth network in the DC area, she would greatly appreciate it.

We also bid adieu to Claudia until the Fall.  She and her husband are off to their home in Wisconsin.  Have a great summer, Claudia.  We will miss you.

This morning we were delighted to welcome a triathlete from Bermuda who ran the

St.  Anthony Tri last weekend and was planning to run with us en route to Showalter Field to work out.  That changed when he found out how many miles it would take to get there on our route.  So instead, we directed him straight up Aloma to Lake Mizell and over to Mizell Avenue.

I also have to correct my reference to Ian residing in Sanford.  Wrong!!  Ian lives in Winter Springs.  His job takes him to Sanford. Sorry about that, Ian.

Road Warriors

Kirsty had a PR at the Run for the Trees (18 seconds faster than last year and 38 faster than ten years age!!  And she also got her acceptance into the NYC Marathon this fall it would be an understatement to say that she is psyched!   She raised this Question:  "Can training and consistent running trump age? The answer, of course, is yes, (to a point) and I plan to cover that issue in my upcoming talk.]

Seth was with us this morning on a "break" from his ultra schedule, but will be gone again for more of the same.  Good luck, Seth!

Wendy is running Flying Pig this weekend.  Hope you had a blast, Wendy!  She plans to take it easy.  Hope you stuck to the plan, Wendy.

May 24 Presentation:  "Running for the Long Haul"

This is just a reminder that I would appreciate a heads up if you plan to attend my presentation on Thursday, May 31st at 7:00 PM at the St. Margaret Mary Parish Center on Park Avenue.  We have about two dozen people confirmed at this juncture.  I'd love to have you join us!

Have a great week!

Jack
