December 5 Run

We had a post-race turnout of a dozen people this morning. Nice 60 degree day, but the ten mile contingent got rained upon as a squall came up suddenly towards 9:00 AM.

First Time Runners with the group:

We were very pleased to welcome two new runners to the group this morning:

Dede: She has always run by herself, so she had a brand new experience today as she pulled me along for six miles. I must share with you her success story: Dede lost 120 lbs. in a year's time and moves along very nicely. What an inspiration!!

Alfred: He came up from the Dr. Phillips area and is originally from Venezuela.

Hope to see both of you in the coming weeks!

So we had 11 of the group competing in 7 age categories. Christine and Jari completed their first race at this distance. Lytle, our youngest runner in the race, was also the fastest with a sub-1:47 pace. Great job!

Note that more of the ladies ran than the men. Congratulations, girls!

Since I again had to get the above results via the hunt & peck system, I urge anyone whom I have missed to weigh in and share your success with the group.

News from New England

Bob completed his quest to run in all 50 state capitols by running in Albany NY. He saved one of the closest capitols until last, since we lives in Woodstock half of the year. Congratulations to you also, Bob.

The Injured List

I found out in the last week or so that Kim and Mike Brown are dealing with injuries. Sorry to hear this and hope you both recover soon. We miss you!

See you soon!

Jack

Liz Vanderberg, the new face that has been running with me for the past few weeks, also ran OUC, her first half. She finished in 2:17:30 (which might look familiar, as it was my time as well: we ran the entire course practically step-by-step together). That makes yet one more lady than men!
