November 24 Run

Today's Run

We had a very healthy turnout of two dozen people today including three new faces:  Chris's sister-in-law Mary, Lindsay visiting from New York City where she is pursuing an advanced law degree and Eamonn, who relocated to Orlando just two weeks ago. Also, Colorado Jack is back in town for a spell and should be joining us for a few weeks before he returns home.

Eamonn and Christine (yes, she's back!) joined wife Mary and me at Panera's for breakfast and told us a fascination story.  Dylan also showed up.

Eamonn, an Irish citizen, joins us from Nigeria, where he was a manager on major construction projects.  Less than a year ago, he decided to begin running.  He quickly decided that he wanted to train for the NYC Marathon.  He had to train on a treadmill in Nigeria because it was too dangerous to run outside.  Quite remarkably, he pulled it off and ran a sub 5 hour pace!  Welcome to Orlando, and our running group, Eamonn!

Cheryl's Father

Cheryl informed us this morning that her father is undergoing triple bypass surgery.  Please keep him in your prayers. Cheryl, please keep us posted.

Need for volunteers at the OUC Half on December 7

Help support the ORC's Urayasu Exchange Program Fund by volunteering at the OUC Orlando Half Marathon on Saturday, December 7th. The Club will receive an honorarium for each volunteer, so the more volunteers we get, the more money we raise for the Exchange Program Fund.

The ORC is in charge of the 1st Water Stop of the Half Marathon.  So grab your family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers and come on out and help.

Space Coast

Good luck to the dozen of you doing Space Coast next weekend! Please check in with your results and/or comments.

Thought for the week

"Use the talents you possess, for the woods would be a very silent place if no birds sang except the best."   Henry Van Dyke

Have a great week!

Yes, there are honey bees at the corner where we all leave water and Gatorade. A friend of mine is a beekeeper (Doug Kramer for those of you who know Sara) went by there after I told him that someone got bit by what we thought was a bee. He said there is a pretty large hive and he is setting up to try to move it. Just wanted to let everyone know.
