June 24th Run

Today's Run

The run had a life of its own this morning.  As best as I can count, it sounds like we had several start times (kind of).  Most of the group got off promptly at 7:00 AM.  After I finished, I found that Michelle and Tom has arrived a few minutes late and they also saw Ian who had arrived even a bit later.

At any rate, it all added up to a group of 20 people out there for the second week in a row.  This is good, particularly given the foul weather which is getting fouler by the hour.

  • We had some of the group whom we haven't seen in a while, including Leslie who arrived in the most impressive bright red new monster truck that I have ever seen.  (Hey Leslie, when are you planning to move?)  Dede had to come out early due to some home requirements but at least we got to see her. Also, as mentioned above, Michelle and Tom joined us, as well as Jeff whom we  haven't seen since he did his St. Anthony's Tri.  Good to see all of you!

  • Lytle and Brian, our engaged couple who are off shortly to Chicago where Brian is enrolled at Northwestern for the Fall semester and Lytle is embarking on a job search.  They will be back here for their wedding in November, and in the meantime they will be doing a junket to Thailand!  (I regaled them with my story of embarking on a somewhat scary run in the dark in Bangkok some years ago).

Long Distance Race Planning

The known roster for December and January races is as follows at this point:

Marathons:  Helene, Debbie, Kristi and Wendy are planning to do Disney.  Dylan is planning to do Space Coast.

Half Marathon:  Liz V is planning on the Disney Half.  Jamie is toying with that prospect also, as am I.

ORC Annual Banquet

Michelle indicated that the Club's annual shindig will take place on July 13 this year.  That's a Friday evening.

Visitor from Australia in September

Had an e-mail from Jodie, a self-professed Aussie asking to join us from down under in September.  She will be our second visitor from Australia.  (Our first was a visitor from Brisbane about a year ago). Jodie does her planning well in advance, probably to take her mind off the fact that she is in the middle of winter down there. (That almost sounds good!)

Have a great week!

Jack

You omitted Christine among the Disney marathoners. Let's not let her train in secrecy here. There's too training at stake.
