April 29 Run

Good-bye to April Run!

What looked like a bust at 6:55 A.M. quickly turned into a group of fifteen or so.  While he is still not back to running, Billy made an appearance this morning and passed out flyers for the West Orange Habitat for Humanity 5K run on May 19.  Billy has been injured for some time now, and we wish him well on getting back on the road.

There was a perceptible warming trend today.  Guess we should feel lucky for the bonus good weather we enjoyed over the last weeks.

Group News

Kirsty completed the Iron Girl Half Marathon in Clearwater last Sunday, replete with hills, two bridge crossings and heavy cross-winds the last five miles.  This earned her a qualification for level two in Half Fanatics by knocking of six half-marathons in six consecutive months.  Congrats, Kirsty!

Seth was in Bloomington MN last week for the Trail Mix Minnesota 50K and had good weather and a nice course.  This weekend he's in CT for the Lake Waramaug   50K.  That sounds like a 60 mile week!  Seth says he may be back with us next Sunday.  Let us know how you did, Seth!!

Lynne, our Pentagon gal, reported that her son Sean (who has run with us when the were back her visiting) did a sizzling 4:45 mile very recently, placing 1st among his schoolmates and 3rd in the pack!!  Congratulations, Sean.

The Iron Nun

Mary and I went to hear Sister Madonna speak last Tuesday eve at Florida Hospital to a packed house and found it well worth the trip.  Christine and her husband also were there and we agreed this morning that Sister Madonna really had a remarkable story to tell.  An 81 year old Ironman competitor!!!

My May 31st Presentation

I'm delighted that a number of you have already signed up to listen to my talk on "Running through the Ages".  Please let me know if you plan to attend.

Have a great week!  See you "next month"
