It was great to see nine smiling faces out yesterday for the last Sunday run of 2011. Many thanks to Dave who was appropriately sporting reindeer antlers and passing out candy canes to the assembled runners (and to two of my friends walking by!) The weather was very mild and the overnight showers done with.
Celebrating Christmas and Hanukkah were Liz, Christine, Dede, Carol, Dylan, Dave (who came directly from his 6:00 AM run from Jon & Betsy Hughes house) Chris, Seth and me.
Once again I thank all of you who have sent your good wishes and your prayers for little Charlie. He is showing improvement but is still very much in need of your prayers.
Some Highlights of 2011
Sadly, the magazine has ceased publication with the December issue. It was nice that they chose to do an article of the group in the April issue.
Participation in the Dedication of Lake Baldwin Trail
Earlier this year we were represented at the dedication of the completion of the loop around the lake.
Visiting Runners
During the past year we hosted out of town and out of country runners from
Fourth Annual Blanket Collection for Homeless Men
We completed our most successful blanket collection with over 350 blankets delivered to the Coalition for the Homeless.
Runners Achievements:
- Dede Kelly and sisters in Good Housedeeping Magazine featuring their impressive weight loss.
- Jeff Hyson's journey from 250 lbs. down to around 200 lbs. and completion of his first triathlon.
- A lot of PR's by member of the group.
- A second person in the group who now is a pilot in training. (Carol, of course, is our global pilot). I leave it to the new pilot's discretion to reveal himself when and if he chooses)
Probably a lot more worthy of recognition, but the above certainly are milestones.
Passings
On a said note, this was a year when several of our members lost loved ones. These include Mark who lost his daughter, Barbara who lost her son and Liz who just lost her mother. All of you are in our prayers.
Roster
Our mailing list grew to 7l people this year, with five people relocating and about ten new runners joining us during the year. Moving on this year were Sultana to DC, and Matt & Chanelle and Kelly to
New members in 2011 include Andy, Jay, Jeff Hyson, Jeff Levine, Jascha, Danny, Brian, Tim. and Ty. Jill also has been added to our roster and hopes to join us in 2012.
We now have quite a few runners on the e-mail list who no longer show up. If you fall into this category, would you kindly let us know whether you still wish to receive our e-mail updates. I know that some of you are dealing with injuries (Carolyne, Brad, Danny, Billy, ?), but we have some names on the list of people who have to the best of my knowledge never joined us for a run.
