October 31

Today's Run

We had a nice turnout on a 64 degree morning. I counted 18, evenly split between females and males. Two new young ladies, Liz and Danielle are not yet on our list.

Marathon Tidings

Just a few hours ago Wendy turned in a 4:45 Marine Corp Marathon. Congratulations, Wendy, and thanks for checking in!

Last Monday, Bob, his daughter and grand daughter completed the Dublin Marathon in 5:17. Congratulations! A tri-generational marathon is most unique!

And last Sunday, Dylan completed the Newport Marathon. Congratulations to Dylan also.

Marty Katz

Marty has made significant progress this week, but had a slight set-back today as he has developed pneumonia. He is starting to grouse for his coffee and his beer, however, both very good signs. Please continue to keep Marty in your prayers.

Blanket Run Update

· The list of participants has grown with the addition of the lululemon ladies. They plan to do a water stop for us at Mile 4 and some of their group will join in the run. This is guaranteed to add an interesting twist to the Sunday run.

· Publicity: Check out Kate Santich's Orlando Sentinel blog starting tomorrow. Also, the WP-Maitland Observer is supposed to run an article on the collection. A reporter has spoken to Amy Tatum, Susan Paul (who runs Marathonfest & Galloway,), myself, and Dave Sutton of the WP Dawgs. The article should be in tomorrow's paper, I believe.

· November 7: I am expecting a lot more blankets than we could have wished for, so the collection period between 6:30 and 7:00AM may be a little bit wild. I have the following volunteers for using their vehicles for the collection effort:

Billy Mikko

Jari Michele

Brad Mark

In addition, I will have two cars available, since Mary will join us.

We probably could use some contingency capacity, so please let me know if you so disposed.

· Finally, we urge to show your solidarity with the homeless in our community by coming out next Sunday. It is not at all necessary to bring a blanket unless you really want to. It is equally important to be there.

Have a great week and Happy Halloween.

Jack
